I think about the comfort of having people nearby who care. Late one night, shortly after moving into our cottage here, my wife came down with the flu. One quick phone call, and within minutes, the help we needed was at the door. Then there was the time I got into trouble with my electrolytes, and while I was out of it, our health services coordinator arrived and called for an ambulance. The staff here is so very responsible and responsive to our needs. You don’t get that kind of treatment living alone in the city.
A surprise to us was the abundance of activities offered here. We love the monthly wine-and-cheese parties, birthday socials, and various holiday celebrations. Not to mention the many interesting presentations on everything from art to the Arctic. Eleanor is in seventh heaven.
For our money, there’s no better place to retire than Camden. From our cottage we can see the mountains that slope down to the sea. Within minutes we can enjoy shopping, restaurants, theater, and more. And because we’re on the coast, it’s warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer than many places in New England. ~A.
